Introducing Mogrify – Caitlin

Ever wanted to be a fly-on-the-wall of the Mogrify office? Now’s your chance. Mostly we’ve got our heads down working hard, but our blog series – Introducing Mogrify – gives us a chance to get up from our desks, answer a few questions and share a bit about what makes us tick.

Today we meet:

  • Caitlin Connors
  • Marketing Coordinator

What is your role at Mogrify?

I am a Marketing Coordinator, providing support to the team.

What do you do on a day-to-day basis?

I do a little bit of everything really. My main task is to support the Senior Marketing Managers in delivering core tasks. I work a lot on social media components including content boosts and LinkedIn connection strategies. I also do some graphic design and web management – its quite varied.

What Mogrify value do you align with the most?

Take initiative. If I see an area that I think can be improved I enjoy improving it and being able to add value.

What is your favourite thing about working at Mogrify?

The team. Everyone works so well together, it’s a well-oiled machine! I enjoy watching how ideas become reality amongst a group of people – from the first spark to project completion. I think our team is really good at making things happen.

It used to be our weekly bake off but COVID has kind of put the kybosh on that for now!

I help bring the average age down which I know all the old fogies appreciate and keep them in the know with what the millennial cool kids are doing*.

*Caitlin did not say this. It was edited in by the copywriter.

What made you choose Mogrify?

The opportunities. In my interview, we went over the areas I would be working in. Because it’s a small team with big projects, there are a lot of opportunities to learn and grow and increase my skill set. There was a clear focus on technology and forward thinking which I found attractive. Mogrify came across as a company with an eye for trends and growth and I wanted to be a part of that.

What makes you get out of bed every day?

My mum usually. Then my alarm! But beyond that, I like learning and that’s a big driver for me. I’m at a point where learning comes very easily, everything is an opportunity and I’m excited to develop my skills and see where it takes me, and where I end up.

How would you describe Mogrify?

Innovative, always moving, and bad for your waistline (just kidding). Also, very welcoming. As the team has grown, newcomers are immediately welcomed, and everyone tries hard to make people feel at home and part of the Mogrify family. It’s a friendly and positive atmosphere.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Music is a big passion of mine. I also really like sign language, I’ve been trying to learn Auslan. I did a course in uni and briefly wanted to be an interpreter but I realised there was quite a lot of work needed to get there. It is, after all, learning a whole new language!

What do you think your expertise is?

I’m still figuring it out. I really enjoy graphic design, I think I have a good eye but its early days. I’m learning a broad skillset at the moment which I think will help me narrow in on my natural strengths. I love collaborating and relationship building, I’m good with people when I meet them for the first time.

Tell us about your family

We’re a small but close crew. There’s me, my mum and dad, my big brother and his girlfriend who is basically part of the family, we’re just waiting for him to make it official! They’re all on the Coast so we see a lot of each other which is a good thing, generally speaking.

What is something no one at Mogrify knows about you?

I should have kept my sign language ambitions up my sleeve for this question!

I developed an allergy to paprika after eating too much butter chicken, oh the shame! Thankfully, it seems to have subsided now but I have learned to moderate my butter chicken intake!

What is one skill you wish you were better at?

I would really like to be able to do a cartwheel. I’ve just never nailed it. Also – reverse parking. It’s a nightmare I live every day.

What is the last movie you saw?

Get Hard with Kevin Hart. I’d give it a 8/10. Funny, on the nose humour.

If you could visit anywhere in the world where would you go?

Germany. I did an exchange in Korea and made a lot of German friends who I miss. I would love to go and visit their hometowns, catch up and see where they have grown up. Also, beer.
