Introducing Mogrify – Laura

Ever wanted to be a fly-on-the-wall of the Mogrify office? Now’s your chance. Mostly we’ve got our heads down working hard, but our new blog series – Introducing Mogrify – gives us a chance to get up from our desks, answer a few questions and share a bit about what makes us tick.

Today we meet:

  • Laura Duffy
  • Marketing Coordinator

What is your role at Mogrify?

I am a Marketing Coordinator.

What do you do on a day-to-day basis?

The Marketing Coordinator role provides support to the whole team, so my day often includes a little bit of everything. My daily tasks include managing and monitoring client social media which we obviously need to be across every day. I also work with the team across design, digital marketing campaigns, website management and conducting interviews for content including blogs and case studies. Since I joined Mogrify, the role has evolved to have more capacity to develop other projects such as list building and website optimisation.

What Mogrify value do you align with the most?

Think Team First. I love that I get to come to work in an environment where there is no hierarchy, everyone is part of one team and everyone helps each other.

What is your favourite thing about working at Mogrify?

We support each other depending on our respective skills. Our roles are versatile, we are pushed to be the best we can be and not be defined by our job titles.

What made you choose Mogrify?

It’s got big-city thinking but its five minutes from the beach!

What makes you get out of bed every day?

I am healthy, happy and in love – why wouldn’t I get out of bed every day?!

How would you describe Mogrify?

When I first joined, I did some research about Mogrify and saw they are “not an agency, not a consultancy”. I wondered what that meant. Now that I am part of the team I get it, we are a marketing partner with a strong business vision. I really love that about Mogrify, the team is working to improve our client’s businesses as a whole and always thinking about the bigger picture. If our clients grow, we grow!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I’m a pretty active person, I like going to the beach, the gym and socialising. This will be my first summer where we are settled on the Central Coast and not renovating so I am looking forward to enjoying the weather and the beach.

What do you think your expertise is?

At home in France, I was very good at content writing but it is much harder to do in your second language. I think my strengths are probably project management and social media. I am naturally very organised which lends itself to project management.

Tell us about your family

I am French and so all my family is in France. I have two brothers; one has recently been to visit for two months. My fiancé is Australian and his family is here. We met working in Sydney before embarking on a long-distance relationship for 18 months! We are getting married in Brittany, my hometown, in August next year.

What is something no one at Mogrify knows about you?

I’m quite reserved so there probably are a lot of things. When I was a child, I was passionate about history and archaeology. I used to watch a TV show called Relic Hunter where the character Sydney Fox was always hunting for ancient treasures. I thought Sydney Fox and Indiana Jones’ jobs were real. I wanted to be like them when I grew up.

What is one skill you wish you were better at?

I think there is always room for improvement in everything. However, I would love to be able to build a website from scratch. I really admire developers and coding and what they can create.

What is the last movie you saw?

I watched The Town on Netflix on Sunday.

If you could visit anywhere in the world where would you go?

There are so many places I would like to go, it is hard to choose one. I would love to go to Egypt because I find the history so fascinating. I would also love to go to Iceland to go trekking and swimming in the natural spas.
